The Barclays Center officially opened on September 21, 2012. Jay-Z provided the first event at Barclays center with a series of concerts for the following week.
Since the Barclays Center is the newest arena in the NBA it has become an attractive destination for many celebrities. Especially since it is in a big market like New York City, many well known celebrities have attended a Brooklyn Nets home game.

The 2015 NBA All Star Weekend took place in NYC this year. The events were held at both Madison Square Garden and The Barclays Center. The most notable event which was the slam dunk contest took place at the Barclays Center where Minnesota Timberwolves guard Zach LaVine put on one of the best dunk contest performances in a long time.
