Nowadays, when we buy technology, we are often choosing the operating system without even realizing it. One system that has always stood out to me is macOS. Behind its reputation as a minimalist and easy to use machine, macOS is also one of the more restricted operating systems, designed heavily around simplicity and user experience. The long competition between Android and Apple has never been just about hardware, but about operating system philosophy. Android has consistently focused on innovation, usually creating new features and customizable interfaces (they are also open source and Linux-based). Since they preach this, Android devices are sometimes looked at as "harder to use," due to their flexibility and complex UI options. Though we have Apple's operating system which is tightly controlled and built specifically for its hardware. MacOS is based on UNIX, it is intentionally limited to sell simplicity and consistency for the user. Personally, though, working on my Dell laptop windows os when programming was never a problem because it pushes me to understand the smaller, underlying details of how systems work. Learning using my Mac feels like too much can be prepackaged, which can limit my hands on experiences. Many programming tools and installations usually show Windows first before macOS, so that also probably plays a role. (I do like my Apple phone though)

One position in particular is a network support technician or a systems admin at Optimum. Working for these network companies, employees are on the lookout for outages in regions and if it occurs, a technician will log into a Linux server and use MKDIR to create a directory for the outage, just to keep logs organized. Saving a command output to a file is helpful because it is documentation that can be reviewed later before debugging. They can find a pattern to what led to the system failure or outage. Linux can be a very powerful tool in admin positions because it allows professionals to quickly navigate systems, organize data efficiently, and troubleshoot issues in a structured and repeatable way that helps maintain reliability across networks.
