What is Aggressive Skating?

Aggressive inline skating is a unique form of inline skating in where riders perform different stunts. These stunts involve jumps, grinds, sliding, spins and even flips and they are what make this form of skating "aggressive". Riders slide or grind on edges and ledges, jump over obstacles while at times performing spins or grabs in mid-air. Overall there are three types of aggressive inline skating; Vert, Street, and Park.

Vert

The act of skating within a structure called "the halfpipe" and it gets its name because the structure looks just like its name. Skaters ride up and down the halfpipe all while performing tricks or maneuvers evertime they pop up into the air from the structure. The halfpipe helps build speed which means skaters go higher up in the air and are able to complete more tricks as well as more difficult ones.

Street

Skaters use just that; the streets, they find different locations which usually have stairs, ditches, rails, benches, curbs and walls. Anywhere in which there is space and opportunity for a skater to grind, jump, etc. Street skaters aren't known to perform high flying maneuvers because on the streets there obviously isn't much to take-off from.

Park

Lastly but not least is the skatepark. The skatepark is basically a combination of the last two forms of skating because it incorporates both the elements of street skating as well as vert skating. They give you the best of both worlds and allow you as a skater to grow in both aspects of the sport.
