Brimstone Hill.

The Brimstone Hill Fortress was constructed between the 1690s and 1790s. The prominent Citadel is one of the earliest and finest surviving examples of a new style of fortification known as the 'polygonal system'. It is nearly 800 feet high with steep and high slopes which had to be tamed by the disciplines of engineering and architecture, and at the risk and probable loss of human lives. The structures of the walls are predominantly of stone from the hard volcanic rock of which the hill is composed. The mortar to cement the stones was produced on site from the limestone which covers much of the middle and lower slopes. The Fortress is a man-made outgrowth of the natural hill.

Bloody Point

It is said that for several days the river flowed red with blood after the French and English Settlers massacred thousands of Kalinagos (Caribes) in 1626. This marked the end of the Kalinagos in St.Kitts.

Black Rocks

Black Rocks is a series of lava deposits that was spat into the sea ages ago when the island's volcano erupted. It has since been molded into fanciful shapes by centuries of pounding surf. It is located on the outskirts of Saddlers Village.

Independence Square

The Independence Square was originally name "Pall Mall Square". It was a site for Slave Markets; slaves from Africa were placed in the basement of a building south of the Square. The Government first acquired it in 1750 and it rapidly became the administrative, commercial and social center of Basseterre.
