Would you prefer to shop in a mall or to shop online? Online shopping is the process of buying merchandise or goods from merchants that sell online. Online shopping was introduced in the year 1979 in the UK. In 1994 pizza hut introduced the option to shop online. That same year Netscape created a way for secured online shopping. In 1995 the world was introduced to Amazon. One of the worlds leading online shopping websites visited till this day. Throughout the years online shopping has grown frequently. People enjoy the option to not have to deal with going in a mall or a shopping store to get merchandise that they desire.
Online shopping is used more by the upper class and middle class but, According to the Independent Newspaper roughly 83% of people are said to have shopped online once in their lives. The ages of 18-30 has a percentage of 54% of them that shop online. 31-44 year olds have a percentage of 68% of them shopping online. 45-54 years old an 64% of them that shop online. 55-65 year olds have 60% of them shoping online and 66-anything have older have 48% of them shopping online.
In the year 2008 2/3 (66%) of american online users said that they have purchased items from on the Web. This is an extreme high measure than when online shopping first approached. When online shopping wasnt as popular the user of it were young men with an high level of income and a univeristy education. Women have also became a major factor in the world of online shopping it went from having a few users to widening up 52.8% in 2001.
Japan, Germany, The UK, The US, and South Korea have the highest amount of online shoppers. The thing that were shopped for the most were books (41%), Clothing/Shoes/Accerories (36%), Videos/DVDs/Games (24%), Airline Tickets (24%) and Electronic Equipment (23%). The only ways there are to pay for things that you shop for online is through a credit card, a debit card, a gift card or any form of electronic money. There are alot of concerns when using these forms of money. In the recent years Indentity theft and spam have been reported. There are actually states in the US that have a bad record of crime. Not crimes of violence, but cyber crimes.
The top spots for cyber crimes are Seattle Washington, Boston Massachusetts; Washington D.C; San Fransciso California; Raleigh North Carolina; Atlanta Georgia, Minneaplois Minnesota, Denver Colorado,Austin Texas; and Portland Oregon. It is not stated what the crimes specifally are but those are states to watch out for when using the access of the Internet.
Online shopping has grown to a full potential and could be the future of shopping completely.
