Arctic Fox

Average height, length, and mass:
Typically, arctic foxes grow to be about 46-68 cm long. They weigh about 104-272 oz. They are in similar size the common red fox.
Hunting and Diet:Arctic Foxes are part of the carnivora order (carnivores.) They mostly feed on tiny rodents such as lemmings or hares (large rabbits), fish, or carrion which is the dead skin of decomposing animals. They sometimes scavenge their food off leftover kills from larger predators such as arctic wolves or polar bears.
Mating and Caring for Young:Arctic Foxes normally mate around the spring time. When there is plenty of prey around, the foxes become more likely to mate and create dens to house their young. Their dens consist of maze-like routes just in case predators attack and the foxes need to outsmart them.

Interesting Facts:
If you look up images of arctic foxes, you may notice that they are mostly white. Sometimes you may see them in a brown color. This is due to their unique adaption! When the weather changes from winter to spring, arctic fox fur adapts to its surrounding. During the winter, as seen above, it has a lucious white coat from head to tail to help camaflauge itself from predators. However, during the spring, their fur changes from white to brown to match the light colors of the dirt and trees.
