Knowing yourself is just as important as knowing which breed you would best bond with. Size, activity level, age and the dogs history all play a part. You would have to analyze your lifestyle and make sure the type of dog you select from the various breeds is indeed similar to the lifestyle you choose to lead. If you're a home body a companion dog would be wonderful, if you are an outdoorsman you very may well be ideal for a sporting dog or working dog breed which would love hiking, fishing and various other high level activities.
