The History of C

This C programmng language was introduces in 1972 and has been around for 41 years. The langauge was developed by the late computer scientist and researcher at Bell Laboratories, Dennis Ritchie, who is known as the father of the C. Other key people involved in its developement include Brian Kernighan and Ken Thompson, who were also researchers at Bell Labs.

Over the years, the C language has seen many different revisions. These include

• K&R C: Better known as "The C Programming Language", written by Brian Kernighan and Dennis Ritchie.
• ANSI/ISO C: Revisions made by the American National Standards Institute, ANSI and the International Organization for Standardization, ISO.
• C99
• C11: The most recent revision to the C language which was released by the C standard committee.

  Each of these revisions add varios extensions ,which result in broader support.
