The Raspberry Pi in your living room.
For about 6 months now, my brother and I have been using the raspberry pi as an improvised HTPC (Home Theater PC). This little computer uses and HDMI cable to connect to my HD television and playback HD video. Using a single-purpose light distro (meaning it's a single app running and Linux in the background) called RaspBMC (also openELEC, and XBian just to name a few) the raspberry pi can play audio, pictures, and HD video plus there's the option of sending video from your phone to your TV (same as Apple's Airplay). Using a Bluetooth mouse/keyboard for navigation, the pi essentially becomes an Apple TV for a fraction of the price. With XBMC running on the raspberry pi, users have the option of watching movies and tv shows right on the big, fancy, and expensive HDTV (and if your do enough searching the media content can be viewed for free). If you have TV shows, movies or family pictures stored on your PC or your phone it is easy (easy as pressing one button) to view them on your HD displays.
