We all love to travel, but many people out there do not because they are either scare of what they hear in the news about other countries, they think they it is going to be difficult getting around the city or the number one excuse: They do not make enough money to take a nice vacation and do not know how to plan it.

How Can I Do it?

I always give people the same answer, think of a place you want to visit, give yourself a budget and save as much as you can every time you get pay (25% of your paycheck, save for your vacation).

This is one of those things that may sound easier said than done, but if you really want to do it, you will make the necessary sacrifices and make sure that it happens.

What should I do first

I personally like to look at places to visit first and then look at flights then buy it as soon as I can. Flights prices tend to go up and down very frequently so if you see the price has drop, I recommend you purchase it before it is gone.

Once I got my flight I like to see where I can stay and what types of activities to do in that country. But I usually like to stay in a beach area, resort because I get tired of seeing the city. So I like to relax and be free.

A common mistake people make is getting the most fancy hotel, lets face it, you are there to enjoy your time, you did take a plane, bus, train and/or taxi just to get to the destination and go to sleep. You are there to get to know the place, you will spend most of your time outside of the hotel/hostel room.

Got to my destination, What now?

When it comes to things to to do once you get to your destination it will all the depend on what kind of person you are. As a 21 year old from New York, I like to visit resorts and beaches and bar, but you are not limited to just that. I put together a list of top things people like to do when they visit a new destination.

Top 3 things to do:
  1. Visit a art gallery
  2. Go to a restaurant
  3. Visit a historical monument
How do I get around the city?

The cheapest way to get around any place in the world is using their public transportation. Many places outside of the USA has daily, weekly and Monthly unlimited passes. See if buying one of those will be beneficial for you based on how many different places you want to visit and how long you are staying.

Would you fly more if the price was cut in half?

Many people are quick to say yes to answer this question but unfortunately not everyone will be able to do it. I have been able to use some tricks and tips that I learned over time to go to more places while spending less money. The trick to this is having a good credit score and being a financial responsible individuals(720 and up).

Banks are your friend

Banks want more customers everyday just so that they can continue to make money or to have more capital to utilize. Customer acquisition can be really expensive to the bank so instead of paying other companies to get your information they prefer to increase their account sign up bonus to a number that will make sure they get new customer. With a credit score of 730+ and a good credit history you got yourself a 50-70% more chance of getting approved. But what is the catch, you may ask. There is absolutely no catch, if you get approved you need to put a minimum spent on the credit card on the first 90 days for you to receive this sign up bonus. Most of the times this minimum goes from $3,000 - $5,000 dollars. Once the money has been spend and the card has been paid off you need to wait 10 to 15 days for the points to be reflected in your account. The points are now on your account, you can either by part of your vacation stay or flight through the bank portal or you can just transfer those points to the airline you will like to travel in. Transferring the points what I recommend because airline often have flash sales for their loyal customers. This could be an airline you never flown before but you will get the same treatment as someone who flights monthly because you have all this points that only regulars flight get. The bank points not only transfer to airlines but they also be transferred to some hotel chain. If you follow my advise to buy your airplane ticket as soon as possible, it will probably be better to use the points for the hotel stay.
