Mission Statement

In the basics page I will show you the most basic knowledge you need to play the game. There's still way more depth that goes into the game, but all this information would be good for a beginner to go into a match and have a sense of what they need to do.

What are the game goals?

The goal of the game is to destroy the enemy nexus that is guarded by 2 towers:

Every lane can reach this goal if they keep pushing, but of course, there are other players that are protecting their towers and trying to destroy yours also.

When you destroy a tower you are granted gold, to buy more items. When you destroy an inhibitor you are rewarded with stronger minions that will push to the enemy base.

When you destroy a tower you are granted gold, to buy more items. When you destroy an inhibitor you are rewarded with stronger minions that will push to the enemy base.

You can purchase your items in the shop. The shop also heals you and has a deathly ray that prevents the enemies to kill you easily when you are here.

You gain gold pasively over time, you are granted 1 gold per second, and also you are granted gold on minion kills. The caster minions give you 14 gold, the Melee minions give you 21 gold, and the cannon minions give you up to 90 gold. Champion kills grant you 300 gold.

Five LoL Roles

Before starting a League game, you can choose a role between Top lane, Jungle, Mid lane, and Bot lane. Bot lane is the only role that consists of two players playing in the same lane. It consists of the ADC and Support champion. Here's a visual representation of how you select your roles before starting a match:

From left to right the role selection are, top, jungle, mid, adc, support. Lastly there's fill on the bottom, fill is when you don't care into what role you're being put into in the game.

Every role has their own playstyle, for example the Top laner is who stays alone in a one versus one lane in the most secluded place in the map. The jungler is who doesn't have to lane and has a jungle where they can move around and help another lanes. The mid laner is also a one versus one lane but their lane is shorter and they can also move faster to help the top laner or the bot laners. The bot lane is shared by the bot laner, also called the ADC and the support. The support is who protects the ADC so they can deal more damage, while staying safe.

Champions

Although every champion in League is different and have different abilities, every champion has some similarities. They all have a passive, a Q ability, a W ability, an E ability, and an R ability. The R ability is usually called the Ultimate ability because that's the strongest ability that each champion pocesses. Here's a picture of the overview of this. You can see this more explained in the Champions tab.
