  • WHAT IS HIV/AIDS?

AIDS is acquired immune deficiency syndrome is a disease caused by a virus called , which attacks the immune system. The immune body system is the the body's bodyguard to fight off infections. When the immune system breaks down, you lose this protection and can develop many serious, often deadly infections and cancers weakenend the body's defenses.

HIV means human immundeficiency virus. It is like the flu or cold. A virus is a set of instructions for making new viruses, wrapped up in some fat, protein and sugar. In order to make more viruses and things associated with a virus, it has to infect a cell. HIV infects CD4 cells that are white blood cells that tell the immune system to fight disease. Once inside the cell, HIV starts producing millions of little viruses; these little viruses kill the cell and then kill the other cells.

    HOW YOU GET?

People get HIV from bodily fluids:

    1. Blood
    2. Semen (cum)
    3. Pre-seminal fluid (pre-cum)
    4. Rectal fluids
    5. Vaginal fluids
    6. Breast milk

These body fluids must come into contact with a mucous membrane and your blood stream. Once this activity occurs it is very possbile to get it. Majority of the time people mostly get it from someone else who is HIV positive through unprotected sex and drug related events.
