A public awareness of the
Swine Flu!
The swine flu, swine influenza, or A(H1N1) is a virus that has mutated from being a pathogen that infected pigs, to a virus that is now contagious by humans. The swine flu is now generally located in north America and is believed to come from Mexico. There are 21 states with confirmed cases of the swine flu. There has been 50 cases in New York alone, and one death has been reported in the state of Texas. The Mexican government had a hard time revealing the truth about the virus because it would had have an impact on the countries economy and trade. Mexico gains most of its revenues through tourism. If the public was aware that their was a possible pandemic in Mexico that could break free to the rest of the world it would bring their economic growth to a halt. Some of the swine flu's symptoms can consist of nausea, vomiting, headaches, diarrhea and fevers of 104 or higher.

Throughout our lives we will come in contact with people who have all sorts of illnesses, and diseases. Whether we are aware that these people have an illness or not we will come face to face with these people all the time. This is because diseases spread like flies. One disease that spreads within the blink of an eye is HIV. We all know what HIV is because we hear about it on the radio, see it on TV. read about in the papers, or even know someone who has come in contact with the virus. HIV stands for human immuno deficiency virus. Even though nobody knows the likely source of the virus, scientist say that it come from monkeys. Even though the exact origin of the virus is unclear, we do know what it is present in today's environment. Below are a list of diseases and which one of the pathogens they fall under.

Name Type of Pathogen Description of disease  Modern Curibility
Swine Flu Virus Traced back to pigs in the Mexician region, this uprising pandemic has found in 13 countries. Children are more at risk in catching the flu because they are the ones who are most likely to spread it. There isn't any cure for this pandemic but there are ways to defend yourself from being at risk from direct contact or inhaling a droplet that is contaminated with this virus. We can wear inhalation mask, use latex gloves, and wash our hands with soap and hot water to lower the risk of coming into contact with the Swine flu. There are medications to help soothe the symptoms such as fever, headaches and diarrhea but the virus itself can not be removed by medication. Symptoms occur one day prior to the pathogen entering the system, and if symptoms do occur you should enter an emergency room as soon at possible. This pandemic alert has been raised from phase 4 to phase 5.
HIV Virus
Abbreviated for Human Immuno Deficiency virus. Contracted through unprotected sexual contact, through genetics, through breast milk, and blood transfusion. The origins of HIV is unclear. Some people believe that the disease was contracted through the consumption of livers form monkeys who were infected with a similar virus. Since apes and humans are similar, the are virus survives easily through human body conditions. When the virus is detected in our system we can do absolutely nothing. The human's immune system isn't able to kill off the intruder. The white blood cells in the body sense that the virus is there and releases' antibodies and this is how we are tested for the virus at a screening. The doctors search for the antibodies released into our blood streem. This virus is untouchable, killing off the white blood cells slowly leaving room for other intruders to penetrate our health. When the body's immune system consist of 200 white blood cells or less, you are know to be introduced to AIDS. AIDS stands for Acquired Immuno Deficiency virus. AIDS is a condition and not a virus. When you have 200 or less white blood cells in your system, your body can no longer fight off any infectious pathogens. The simplest Rhino virus can become fatal.  You don't die from HIV you actually die from other infections that become horrific since your immune system is now low. There isnt any cure from HIV, but there are treatments to help the immune system become stronger. Some medications can be Truvada or Atripla.

The third stage is the internal spread of the infection, where there are many sores throughout genitals and face and can be fatal if not treated because the bacteria can travel to the brain.  It is said that 50-80% of the human population have antibodies for this virus so they are infected with it.

This virus is also known as genital herpes and is contracted through sexual contact with another person who incubates the virus, and a blister is present.                  It is very important to go to your doctor for a physical every year. Physicals detect any kind of negative inhabitance in a persons body. We should be aware about how Pathogens travel and what they intend to do to us. Pathogens are spreading and it is up to us to prevent them from spreading and causing havoc in communities. STDs are now called STI's. STD stands for sexually transmitted disease. STI stands for sexually transmitted infections. My love for health and my awareness has helped me prevent the worse of flu's, and cold viruses. Being aware of your environment keeps us healthy. Now we must ask ourselves how do we prevent infections. <<<<click there
