Rose Tea |
The roses to use for tea are the highly fragrances and its best to use the classic old-fashion varieties which are red and pink. The tea will taste just like roses, so the tastes also depends on which rose you used.However, some flowers have a tangy taste. If you want to use a fresh petals, then you have to rinse them and cut off the white bases because of their bitterness. |
Simmer two cups of fresh rose petals in three cups of water for about five minutes, then strain out the liquid. Add honey, sugar, or sweetener if you please. This tea is full of Vitamin C, and it smells heavenly! |
Hibiscus Tea |
This tea is most popular in Jamaica and The Caribean and is generally made from hibiscus sabdariffa. This is a large scrub with green lobed leaves and yellow flowers.The leaves have a bright red petioles, but it is the englarged red calyxes( enlarged sepal cluster at the base)that give the plant the common name" Florida cranberry". You can use both the flowers and calyces to make a pleasant acidic tea. |
Pour boiling water over 1-2 tablespoons of the flowers and strain after 5-10 minutes |
Chrysanthemum Tea |
This tea is extremely popular in China and other Asian countries. It is an infused beverage made from the Chrysanthemum flowers of the species Chrysanthemum morifolium or Chrysanthemum indicum. In some Asian Grocery stores they will sell it dried or you can order it online. it is touted to have many health benefits.Tea made from yellow flowers, which is said to have a sweet-scent and taste but the white flowers have a bitter taste, in which is often sweetened with rock sugar. |
Use freshly boiled water at between 90 to 100 degrees heat. Rinse out the teacup or pot with the hot water to warm. Use 4 to 5 flowers per cup. Then allow to brew for two to four minutes. However, if you want you can add rock sugar and wolfberries to the tea( is a Chinese Tradition). Finally, the tea can be served hot or cold. |
Chamomile Tea |
This tea is the best if you want to be curled up with a hot and fragrant cup of chamomile tea in a cold night. This tea is very popular and many of you have heard quite often. It is also said that this tea can make you sleepy or relax. Althoguh, this chamomile tea is highly fragrant with a sweet, apple-like scent, the taste is mild. |
Pour 8oz of boiling water over the Chamomile flowers and mint and then steep for 5 minutes. |
Bee Balm |
The Monarda is a genus of flowering plants in the mint family, Lamiaceae. This native plant from the mint family that was used for tea by native Americans, who lived near the Oswego River. They taught the first settlers how to make tea from Bee Balm. However, the common names include Bee Balm, Horsemint, Oswego Tea, and Bergamot. The Latter ispired by the Fragrance of the leaves, which is reminiscent of bergamot orange. |
First start the three or four fresh Bee Balm leaves per cup or fill your infuser with about same amount of dried Bee Balm leaves. Then put the leaves or the tea infuser into the tea cup and pour boiling water over the top. Allow the Bee Balm Tea to steep for 5-10 minutes. |
