BOSTON REDSOX
The Boston Red Sox are an American professional baseball team based in Boston, Massachusetts. The Red Sox compete in Major League Baseball as a member club of the American League East division. The Red Sox have won eight World Series championships and have played in twelve. Founded in 1901 as one of the American League's eight charter franchises, the Red Sox' home ballpark has been Fenway Park since 1912.Boston was a dominant team in the new league, defeating the Pittsburgh Pirates in the first World Series in 1903 and winning four more championships by 1918. However, they then went into one of the longest championship droughts in baseball history, dubbed the "Curse of the Bambino" after its alleged beginning with the Red Sox' sale of Babe Ruth to the rival New York Yankees two years after their world championship in 1918. It took eighty-six years before the Red sox were able to win their sixth Championship in 2004. That year many records were broken and history was made. The Red Sox overcame a 3-0 deficit against the Yankees in the American League Championship Series and won in game 7. The Red Sox were one of the few teams to do this in the Playoffs. Causing one of the biggest upsets in Major League Baseball History. Then they went on to beat the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series, obtaining their sixth franchise Championship. After that they went on to win two more Championship. They won again in 2007 and also in 2013 making their franchise championship count to eight. That leaves them tied for fourth place for most championships in MLB History.
