In 1973, the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York purchased the University Heights Campus of New York University as the future home of Bronx Community College (BCC). The purchase provided BCC with a large campus containing modern classrooms and facilities. Along with the new, however, the campus also contained a rich historical past and edifices designed by two of the most prominent architects of the 20th century. This blending of history and architecture combine to make BCC a very unique college campus in America. The pages of this website provide a background of the major events and architects that have shaped this campus. Its intention is to inform with the hope that you will then be inspired to tour the campus and its treasures and bask in the beauty that is the campus of BCC. |
