Wouldn't it be great if the foods we eat were safe, healthy, and free from pesticides? There is a lot of confusion about what is safe to eat for our own health and longevity, as well as for our planet. There are five main food groups:

  • starchy foods
  • fruit and vegetables
  • dairy foods
  • meat and beans

  • fat and sugar

There are no easy answers. By committing to eating better, we can reduce our risk of many chronic diseases – including heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis and certain cancers – while increasing our energy and stamina. Healthy eating can even lower “bad” LDL cholesterol. By developing our own plan for healthy eating, we'll be able to expand our range of healthy choices to include a variety of foods, especially delicious vegetables, grains, and fruits that we may have previously ignored.  Healthy diet can help improve our overall health and well being. A healthy diet can help us feel better, provide us with more energy, help us stay fit and active, and help us fight stress. Healthy eating begins with learning how to “eat smart”. It's not just what we eat, but how we eat. Dietary fiber, found mainly in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes — is probably best known for its ability to prevent or relieve constipation. But fiber can provide other health benefits as well, such as lowering your risk of diabetes and heart disease.

It's very important also, to make sure we are drinking enough. Our bodies need water or other fluids to work properly. Water makes up about two-thirds of our body weight, and it's important for this to be maintained because most of the chemical reactions that happen in our cells need water. We also need water for our blood to be able to carry nutrients around the body.
