Music Therapy

Music is a core function in our brain. From infants our brains have been able to notice different rhythms and sounds. Our bodies also sometimes become entranced to music and certain rhythms. An example of this might be when you are humming a song in your head and suddenly find yourself walking to the beat. Our body always responds to music. When we are feeling different types of emotions our heart may race, or heads may nod. Whether from the music itself, or from our associations with the music, music taps into our emotional systems. Music can also improve a person's attention skills. Music has a way of grabbing a person's attention. It helps to amplify moods like anger and rage, or it can be used to calm us down when we need it to. Music can be an escape from the world that you are currently enjoying or not enjoying, and can be an entry into a world of old so that you may revisit your past.
