بنت الصحن Bint Al Sahn
also called as sabayah is a sweet dish, it is prepared by layers of dough and baked in the oven. This dish is topped with honey and butter and served either for breakfast or desert.
(سلتة) Saltah
also called fahsa is another popular dish in Yemen. It is prepared with stew (maraq) with potatoes, spices, eggs and hilbah ( a dip made of fenugreek) inside a stone pot called a madara.
شفوت Shafoot
is an appetizer that’s popular mostly during Ramadan (to break their fast. Which is made with lahoh which is a pancake-like bread drenched with buttermilk/yogurt and topped with cucumbers, tomatoes, and lettuce.
(عصيد) Aseed
is a dish made of wholemeal flour cooked with boiling water and salt that’s served with chicken/lamb/beef broth topped with hilba (fenugreek dip)
Khubz
homemade bread is made in a Tandoor(called tanoor in Yemen) it is a round clay oven but there are metal tanoor that are portable and convenient.
