The first book released in 2000: Storm Front
The Dresden Files is a series unlike the other two I've written about so far. This is a story about a man who is a detective and a wizard. He's a spell-slinger, a gun-slinger and he has an ad in the local paper "wizard for hire". He lives in Chicago and operates as a PI. His work has previously been to find lost things, he excels at this. But, in most recent case, to find a missing husband, leads him to discover a warlock at work. Oh, I forgot to mention, all the other wizards in the world are private; Almost in hiding, performing their arts behind closed doors or atleast away from prying eyes.
I should probably also mention that, Harry Dresden, our protagonist, has a dark past. A former student to a wizard turned warlock, he defeated his former master who attempted to make Harry his Thrall. But unfortunately, the Wizard's Council does not believe Harry to be completely free from his warlock past. As such, he lives on a kind of probation. One step out of line and he loses his head, literally. So when this warlock begins to operate inside his city, Harry must not only defeat this evil, but must also prove his innocence.
This is a fast paced series. Each book filled with action. Dresden pushes himself to the limit in each one. Showing not just his skill and power, but his heart and devotion to his arts, friends and defending those who can not defend themselves.
